Choosing Wood Blinds
Many people feel that installing wood blinds adds a warm, natural look to the room. They can custom built to suit any size window. They also
allow just the right amount of light in when you want it and they provide ample privacy from prying eyes. These types of blinds are also
durable and quite versatile.
Well made wood window blinds also provide good insulation from the cold or from the heat. When it comes to cleaning them, use a damp cloth and
wipe them down or a natural wood cleaner sprayed onto a cloth works as well. Depending on the décor of the room, these can be installed in
practically any room.
The type of wood used for most wood blinds is Ramin and Bass. The more common one is Bass because it has a much more distinctive
grain and is a stronger wood. It is also good for staining as well. Ramin does not cost as much as Bass in most cases. The styles available
include vertical, faux wood, woven and mini blinds. You can also get them in a number of different shades, colors and stains.
Most wood blinds can be fitted with features such as motorization, UV control, light blocking and anti-static controls. Obviously,
these features will increase the overall cost of the blinds as well. Most home improvement centers will carry a wide selection of different
window coverings, so they are a good place to start looking. Specialty stores that sell only window coverings are located in some larger
cities. You can also order custom blinds from catalogs or online from websites that deal in many different types of window
coverings.
Before purchasing any type of blinds, whether they are wood blinds or not, you must measure the area of your window that you want
covered. If you do not measure, the chances of buying the wrong size are quite possible.
